2023 Lexus GX 460 Release Date, Price, and Specs

Lexus GX has its own reputation as a capable (and also stylish) SUV, so it should be interesting to learn more about 2023 Lexus GX. Previously, there had been rumors that the SUV would get a redesigned touchup. And after the company has confirmed it that GX 460 does get some redesigned work, it should be exciting to wait for its launch. The SUV is unique because it has a solid truck-based construction, which makes it sturdy and tough. What kind of improvements will they do to the ride?

The Updated Plans

Rumor has it that the new GX will still be using the body on frame structure. If it’s true, then it’s just too bad because such a construction is actually aging. For the engine, it’s likely that it still comes with similar V8 unit of naturally aspirated type.

However, more updates can be expected from the cabin. There would be more gadgets, more techs, and also more premium materials. Size won’t change too much, though. The SUV is still able to accommodate seven people within its three rows arrangement. Lexus should be serious if they want to create a more appealing outcome, considering that the GX has some tough and strong rivals, such as Mercy GLE Class, Beemer X5, Audi Q7, and Acura MDX. All of them have greatly improved their rides, creating a more appealing, more modern, and more attractive vehicle. If Lexus and its GX doesn’t want to be left behind, they need to do more than doing a simple (and subtle) cosmetic touchups.

The Redesigned Project

Despite the body on frame structure, the upcoming 2023 Lexus GX will be accompanied by some good stuff. The company makes sure that they can still display the appealing side of the SUV. That’s why the new SUV will get big spindle-grille which would be flanked and made obvious by the LED triple beam headlights.

In terms of boxy body look, it will remain the same. However, there would be new lines being added all over the car, so the details should be able to increase the appealing side of the ride. Same tailgate would be still used, swinging like a door having hinge-side right on the back. This is pretty unique because most SUVs would have traditional tailgate with lifting up mechanism. Expect similar Kinetic Dynamic Suspension to remain because it is the one responsible for the smooth on-road performance and experience. It is able to optimize the offroad performance while improving ride quality at the same time.

For the interior, the boxy shape resulted in flawless cargo space and headroom. The third row seats can fold flat, while the second one can recline, fold, and slide. Such an arrangement is handy for extra traveling comfort and convenient.

Performance and Engine

As it was mentioned before, the powertrain will likely unchanged. According to sources, this SUV will still be coming with V8 unit of 4.6 liter capacity that will produce 301 hp. When paired with all wheel driving system and auto 6 speed transmission, the car seems to have promising outcome. The ride also comes with a locking (center) differential and transfer case (2 speed) which will affect the offroad performance. The fuel economy is 15 mpg for the city, 19 mpg for the highway, and 16 mpg combined. There is a possibility of hybrid power, but the company hasn’t said anything about it.
