Hyundai launched Genesis as an upscale spinoff brand in 2015. The company aims to compete with BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes-Benz. G80 and G90 sedans offer greater value than German luxury sedans, and they are sized for the big leagues. With sharp handling and outstanding value, the compact G70 is a highly impressive sports sedan.
In addition to the GV70 and GV80, the Genesis family also offers desirable SUVs that benefit from the brand’s successful formula. As part of the lineup, an all-electric crossover called the GV60 will be offered.
2023 Genesis GV60
A Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 will be the basis for Genesis’ first EV, the 2023 GV60, which will offer a more upscale interior and whimsical styling. Genesis could commercialize its innovative convenience feature on a large scale in 2023 or later for the successful pilot program.
Genesis is the first global car manufacturer to provide wireless EV charging technology with their GV60 electric vehicle. The company will start a pilot project to build a wireless charging infrastructure by the end of the fourth quarter of 2021. It was facing a small delay and could not meet this deadline due to the delay.
The driver of the GV60 needs to park the vehicle’s front end over the EV charging mat to start wireless charging the car. Towards the development of wireless EV charging technology, Genesis has partnered with US-based WiTricity, which specializes in wireless charging for electric vehicles.
There is a plug on the floor of supporting parking lots that can be used to charge the GV60. In-vehicle charging is Genesis’ way of establishing a leadership image in electrification. New technologies aim to raise the competition level as the GV60 targets the global market. It will take some time for wireless charging stations to become widespread in Europe, but Genesis intends to lead the way.
2023 Genesis GV80
This 2023 Genesis GV80 is a paragon of luxury that comes at an impressively affordable price because of its stately exterior styling, sleek interior design, high-end finishes, and ample amenities.
Despite being a luxury midsize SUV, the GV80 lacks refinement, and it quickly bested mainstays in the class. There is nothing to complain about in the interior, which has stunning materials, an understated design, and a spacious layout. However, it can be a challenge to get used to the infotainment system. There is a distinctively luxurious appearance to the exterior.
One area where the GV80 falls short is its powertrain. Four- and six-cylinder engines are both a bit coarse, and the base engine doesn’t provide enough power for such a large SUV. Moreover, the twin-turbo V-6 offers little performance advantage. A more serious problem is that the GV80 rides much stiffer than we would expect from a luxury car.
Despite its notable flaws, the GV80 is a truly impressive luxury SUV that will only become better with a mid cycle update in 2024. The first attempt at disrupting the midsize luxury segment by Genesis was a success.
2023 Electrified G80
This luxurious sedan can be equipped with a 365 horsepower electric powertrain that has been grafted into the e-Powertrain of the Genesis G80 while still offering the same 282 miles of range as the standard G80.
There is a starting price of $80,920 for the 2023 Genesis Electrified G80 sedan. Electric G80s will be available in Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and Washington in September, whereas they are currently only sold in California, Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York.
2023 G90
The Genesis G90 sedan has been given a very big facelift for 2023, complete with a more contemporary design and a cabin, and it is also available with an E-supercharged engine.
Earlier this month, Genesis released information about the price of the 2023 G90. Full size sedans from the Korean luxury brand have seen a substantial price increase. G90s will start at $89,495; those with a 48-volt hybrid system will cost $99,795.
It is effortless to pay attention to powerful performance. Adaptable technology coupled with a 3.5L twin turbo V6 engine offers sophisticated strength balanced with pulse quickening speed in G90’s 409 hp engine with 48V e-Supercharger.
2023 Electrified GV70
Genesis is prepping a third electric vehicle, which will replace the regular GV70’s gasoline engine with two electric motors for a total of 483 horsepower. It will be called the Electrified GV70 SUV.
With its dynamic appearance, spacious interior emphasizing the beauty of white space, new driver-oriented technologies, and powerful performance, the Electrified GV70 is undoubtedly a premium electric SUV.
In Genesis, the term electrified refers to an electric version of a petrol car. Most manufacturers use the term electrified to describe hybrid vehicles. The Electrified GV70 is Genesis’ battery electric version of the GV70 compact crossover, which has already been launched in the U.S. for 2022.
