Sportage’s fans may not need to expect more about the 2024 Kia Sportage, considering that it’s highly likely a carryover from the 2023 model. The Sportage would be redesigned completely in 2023 model, so why bother redesigning it again? After all, Kia is pretty serious concerning their 2023 Sportage. The vehicle would get stretched wheelbase, bold and modern design (but without compromising elegance), more technologies and features, and updated powertrain. You can expect a compact and good-looking SUV with spacious and plush interior cabin and also bold look on the exterior.
About 2023 Sportage
As it was mentioned before, the 2023 Sportage is completely redesigned. The result is somewhat alien-like style – completely different from anything available on the auto market today. The grille is dominating the front end, but it is then divided into two sections with an existing horizontal bar. The front end would be decorated with running daytime lights with boomerang style that would be located next to the existing grille. In the meanwhile, the headlights would be placed quite low within the front end of the SUV, delivering a unique appearance for the Sportage.
On the back, the style is quite ‘unique’ too – in a good way. The taillights are connected by a (black) trim piece protruding a bit out from the liftgate. If everything goes as expected, as the 2024 model would be a carryover model, then expect the 2024 model to have similar design on the outside.
The Interior Cabin
The carryover model would continue to the cabin. The cabin may not be as outlandish as the outside, as you can expect better and more upscale look. The air vents come in angular design, which is similar to the daytime running lights. The dashboard even comes with split two sections. The dashboard would be dominated by two screens, delivering modern SUV look. There are some nice extra addition, such as USB ports or the coat hangers (which can be molded to the front headrest area).
Kia has prepared the high-end technologies for the 2023. Hopefully, they will still be the same for the 2024 model. If possible, there should be even better technologies. For the 2023 model alone, you can expect wireless charging pad, sophisticated audio system from Harman Kardon, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and WiFi hotspot.
Powertrain and Performance
Hopefully, Kia would offer 3 different engine options for their 2024 Kia Sportage. The first would be a four-cylinder unit of 2.5 liter capacity that generates 187 hp. It would be coming with auto 8 speed transmission as the standard. The offered plug in hybrid as well as hybrid system would be sharing the similar four-cylinder unit with 1.6 liter capacity and the auto 6 speed transmission. But the hybrid would be operating on 44.2 kW electric motor while the plug in hybrid has 66.9 kW motor with 13.8 kWh battery pack. The hybrid is able to generate 226 hp while the plug in hybrid is able to churn 261 hp. All the powertrains would be coming with all wheel driving system, with the exception of the plug in hybrid system that only comes with all wheel driving system.
Release Date and Price
Designed as the 2024 model, the Sportage should arrive sometime in 2023; most likely on the first quarter. Since Kia hasn’t stated the price for the 2023 model, it’s difficult to predict the tag for the 2024 model. The 2021 model has a price tag between $25,300 and $35,000. And the 2024 model should have way higher range than that. The Sportage would be a worthy rival against Hyundai Tucson, Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, VW Tiguan, and Mazda CX-5. Possible updates about 2024 Kia Sportage will be ready when Kia has set the whole thing, even with their 2023 model.
